Anoka-Ramsey Community College Welcomes New Coaches

Coaches bring wealth of experience to women’s volleyball and women’s basketball teams.

Women athletes at Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) will work under talented new leadership this fall as new head coaches join the Women’s Volleyball and Women’s Basketball intercollegiate programs.

Taking the helm of the national championship-winning Women’s Basketball Team is David DeWitt, a 19-year veteran coach of college and high school sports teams in Minnesota. DeWitt comes to ARCC from Centennial High School, where he served most recently as chair of the Physical Education Department and has previously coached the boys basketball team and boys and girls track teams. In past years he has also served as head coach of the Hamline University women’s basketball team and as assistant coach of Hamline University’s men’s basketball team and the Northwestern College men’s basketball team. DeWitt has an M.A. in Athletic Administration from the University of St. Thomas.

“I look forward to recruiting and building a strong team capable of carrying on the winning tradition of the ARCC Golden Rams Women’s Basketball Team,” DeWitt says.

Rongere served most recently as the head women’s club coach at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where the team placed third in the Southern Women's Athletic Conference during the 2004-2005 season and were ranked 24th in the nation. Rongere is also a veteran player of intercollegiate volleyball, having played for three years at North Dakota State University and one, at Texas State University. He has an M.Ed. in Sports Management from Texas State University.

“I’m excited to build a program at ARCC that will continually place at the top of their conference as well as become nationally recognized,” Rongere says.
