Summer course on
bullying/school violence available
at Cambridge and Coon Rapids
Campuses
Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC)
announces the initial offering of the
Center for Graduate Teacher Education
available at its two campuses in Cambridge
and Coon Rapids through a partnership
with St. Cloud State University (SCSU).
The two institutions are collaborating
to serve the most pressing needs of
teachers today.
This summer, teachers looking for
expert strategies in dealing with the
foremost issue in classroom management
today have the opportunity to take
a three-credit, two-day bullying/school
violence graduate course at the Cambridge
or Coon Rapids Campus of ARCC. The
course will be offered this summer:
Aug. 10-11, with an additional online
component.
The bullying/school violence course
will be taught by John Hoover, Professor
of Special Education at SCSU. Dr. Hoover
is nationally known as an educator,
clinician, and expert witness on bullying
and school violence. The course will
address:
• Bullying and systems theory/ecological
views of psychology;
•
Bullying and trust in adult relationships;
•
Student views of bullying;
•
Causes and results of school violence;
•
Bullying behaviors, including relational
aggression; and
•
Bullying prevention: Second Step, Bully
Busters, Safe School Ambassadors.
