High school students needing
help completing high school and pursuing
post-secondary education will have a summer
option through the Upward Bound Summer
Program at Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
The Upward Bound Program is a federally
funded program that works with 9th- through
12th -graders at Anoka, Blaine, Champlin
Park, Coon Rapids, Park Center, Osseo
and Spring Lake Park high schools.
Through Anoka-Ramsey Community College,
the Upward Bound Summer Program will offer
instruction in English, math, forensic
science, photography, American Sign Language
and mock trial. Students will attend class
Monday through Thursday and will have
the opportunity to participate in field
trips on Fridays.
In addition, Upward Bound will participate
in a Summer Food Service Program sponsored
by the United States Department of Agriculture.
Meals at Anoka-Ramsey Community College
will be provided free of charge to all
eligible students participating in the
Upward Bound Summer Program. To be eligible,
students must meet one of the following
standards: their family income qualifies
them for reduced-price meals in the National
School Lunch Program, they are part of
a household that receives foods stamps,
they receive benefits under the Food Distribution
Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR),
or they receive Temporary Assistance to
Needy Families (TANF).
Meals will be provided Monday-Friday
at Anoka Ramsey Community College beginning
June 20 and ending July 28. The meals
and times will be as follows:
Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Lunch: 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

for Upward Bound, the Summer Food Service
Program and all related activities are
the same for all regardless of race, color,
national origin, gender, age or disability.
