President Dr. Patrick Johns welcomed
graduates and encouraged them to use
the skills and confidence they’ve
developed to tackle new challenges.
He referred to President Theodore Roosevelt,
who once said, “Whenever you
are asked if you can do a job, tell ’em, ‘Certainly
I can!’ Then get busy and find
out how to do it!”
Student speakers Jane Begich Johnston
and Elizabeth Biesiada encouraged their
fellow graduates to believe in themselves
and continue setting new goals. Community
Speaker Jean Anderson, a retired educator
and professor emeritus with the University
of Minnesota Extension Services, spoke
of three keys to always cherish: time,
treasure and talent. She urged graduates
to find something important to which
they could commit themselves, and to
give back to their community.
