Anoka-Ramsey Community
College (ARCC) and Pine Technical College
(PTC) have joined forces to respond to
a need in the community by offering training
in low-pressure boiler operation at the
ARCC Cambridge Campus.
“We’ve been made aware
that East Central Minnesota has a need
for more people with boiler operation
licenses,” says Barry Kirchoff,
ARCC Director of Continuing Education
and Customized Training. “We’re
partnering with Pine Technical College
to help make that happen.”
PTC will provide the faculty, and
ARCC will provide the classroom space
and administrative support.
“This collaboration offers a
win for Anoka-Ramsey, a win for Pine
Tech, a win for the school district,
and best of all a win for students,” Kirchoff
says. “We look forward to creating
more of these training initiatives
together.”
The low-pressure boiler training will
be covered in nine evening classes
that run Monday and Thursday evenings
6 - 9:30 p.m. in Humanities Building
#92 on the Cambridge Campus of ARCC.
The training begins April 14 and concludes
May 12. The cost of the course including
books, materials, registration and
a certificate of completion is $349
per student.
The training will cover ASME code
requirements, boiler fittings, feed
water accessories, steam accessories,
combustion accessories, boiler water
treatment, boiler operation, and boiler
room safety. The course is supplemented
with videos, open discussion of student
concerns and a plant tour. Upon successful
completion of the class for an additional
fee students are eligible to take the
State of Minnesota licensing examination.
