Shakespeare’s Frolicking Fairies Take the Stage at Anoka-Ramsey Community College

Theatre Department to mount “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in April.

Moonlight magic and a mysterious forest are the backdrop to “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Shakespeare’s light-hearted romantic comedy scheduled for the spring production at Anoka-Ramsey Community College Coon Rapids Campus. Performances are scheduled for April 15, 16, 21, 22, and 23 in the Performing Arts Center.

Anoka-Ramsey Community College theater students Isaiah Waid and Samantha Lavell Anoka-Ramsey Community College theater students Isaiah Waid and Samantha Lavell play the young lovers Lysander and Helena in the spring production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at Anoka-Ramsey Community College Coon Rapids Campus.

Filled with merry mischief, the play follows young lovers into a magical forest filled with meddling fairies, which cause comedy and chaos to reign for a night. In the end, the troublesome magic is reversed and true love wins out -- but not before much amorous intrigue and slapstick humor ensue.

The upcoming show is a production of the Coon Rapids Campus Theater Department. The play is directed by at Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) Theater Arts Faculty Member Jack Bibee, with technical direction and set design provided by ARCC Theatre Technician Tom Valach.

All performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. The April 21 show will be an interpreted performance for the hearing impaired. Tickets are $8, available in advance at the College Bookstore or by calling 763-422-3536.
