This is not
the first national showing for the ARCC
Women’s Basketball Program. The college’s
record speaks for itself: seven National
Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA)
tournament appearances and five titles
(1994, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2005) during
the past eleven seasons. The 2004-05
Golden
Rams carried on the tradition, racking
up an overall record of 28 wins and only
one loss.
Balanced Dynamics
The three players who took the lead on the court for the Rams this season were
forward Bonnie Johnson, post Selina Theisen, and forward Stephanie Westman.
Johnson was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after finishing
the championship game with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Theisen and Westman were
named to the National All-Tournament Team after outstanding performances during
the title game. Theison scored 22 points and earned 12 rebounds and Westman
scored 20 points and earned 15 rebounds.
The ARCC Rams roster also includes players
Aaron Gilbert, Anne Woods, Ellyn Shun,
Emily Beaudry, Ashley Benson, and player
consultant Sherri Hoernermann.
ARCC Rams Coach Keith Lindahl was named
National Coach of the Year for NJCAA Division
III. This is Lindahl’s fifth season
as coach of the Rams and second trip to
the National Tournament.
"This has been an unbelievable season,” Lindahl
says! “This team handled adversity
like no team I have ever coached. Most
of the players were injured at some point
during the season but we somehow managed
to keep it all together. Other coaches
and administrators commented on what a
focused and classy team Anoka-Ramsey is.
This is a wonderful group of women, and
they carried themselves in a manner that
Anoka-Ramsey can be proud of, as am I."
