Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball Team Wins First Game in NJCAA National Tournament

The Lady Golden Rams of Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) will advance to the semifinal round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III National Women's Basketball Tournament after their 84-63 victory today over Bunker Hill Community College.

Sophomore Stephanie Westman led the team, scoring 33 points and pulling down 27 rebounds. In addition to Westman's prolific performance, sophomore Selina Theisen scored 28 points and sophomore Bonnie Johnson added 12. Theisen and Johnson respectively snared 10 and seven rebounds and Johnson added eight assists.

The victory puts ARCC, the tournament's top-seeded team, into the semifinal round Friday, March 18, at 6 p.m. in Corning, NY, against an opponent to be revealed later today. If successful in the semifinal round, Anoka Ramsey will play for its fifth national title in women's basketball Saturday night.

The ARCC Womens Basketball team has compiled at 25-1 record this season, ranking them #1 in the nation in NJCAA's Division III Women's Basketball Poll for most of the season. They advanced to the NJCAA tournament by winning the Minnesota Community College State Tournament in February.
