The Lady Golden Rams of Anoka-Ramsey
Community College (ARCC) will advance
to the semifinal round of the National
Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA)
Division III National Women's Basketball
Tournament after their 84-63 victory
today over Bunker Hill Community College.
Sophomore Stephanie Westman led the
team, scoring 33 points and pulling down
27 rebounds. In addition to Westman's
prolific performance, sophomore Selina
Theisen scored 28 points and sophomore
Bonnie Johnson added 12. Theisen and
Johnson respectively snared 10 and seven
rebounds and Johnson added eight assists.
The victory puts ARCC, the tournament's
top-seeded team, into the semifinal round
Friday, March 18, at 6 p.m. in Corning,
NY, against an opponent to be revealed
later today. If successful in the semifinal
round, Anoka Ramsey will play for its
fifth national title in women's basketball
Saturday night.
The ARCC Womens Basketball team has
compiled at 25-1 record this season,
ranking them #1 in the nation in NJCAA's
Division III Women's Basketball Poll
for most of the season. They advanced
to the NJCAA tournament by winning the
Minnesota Community College State Tournament
in February.
