Anoka-Ramsey Community College Womens Basketball Team sweeps state, sweeps regions, heads to NJCAA National Tournament ranked #1

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) womens basketball team has compiled at 25-1 record this season, ranking them #1 in the nation and the opportunity to compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament in Corning, NY on March 17-19.

Most recently the Golden Rams swept the NJCAA Region 13A tournament in early March as well as the Minnesota Community College State Tournament in February.

“The Women and I will do all we can to bring back the National Championship,” stated Coach Keith Lindahl shortly after returning from the ARCC Golden Rams’ 64-54 victory over Ridgewater Community College in the regional championship finals.

Anoka Ramsey Community College’s record speaks for itself: six NJCAA tournament appearances and four titles (1994, 1997, 1998, 1999) over the past nine seasons. The last visit to the National Tournament was in 2003.

The Golden Rams’ roster includes freshman Ashley Benson, Spring Lake Park High School graduate; sophomore Emily Beaudry, St. Michael/Albertville High School graduate; freshman Aaron Gilbert, Edison High School graduate; sophomore Bonnie Johnson, Osseo High School graduate; sophomore Ellyn Shun, Irondale High School graduate; sophomore Selina Theisen, Centennial High School graduate; sophomore Stephanie Westman, Blaine High School graduate; freshman Anne Woods, Mahtomedi High School graduate.
