Anoka-Ramsey’s Two Rivers Reading Series Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Author Emily Fridlund on Nov. 20
October 21, 2019
Anoka-Ramsey Community College’s Two Rivers Reading Series welcomes author Emily Fridlund for a reading and interview on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from noon to 12:50 pm and 2 to 2:50 pm at the Performing Arts Center Theatre, Coon Rapids Campus. Fridlund brings her debut novel, “History of Wolves,” to the series, which is a gripping coming-of-age story that takes place in northern Minnesota. “History of Wolves” won the American Academy of Arts and Letters Sue Kaufman Prize for First Fiction and the Great Lakes Colleges Association New Writers Award. It was also a finalist for the Man Booker Prize for Fiction, the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize for Debut Fiction and the International Dublin Literary Award.
This year, the Two Rivers Reading Series celebrates 20 years of bringing acclaimed, award-winning authors, poets and playwrights to Anoka-Ramsey each semester. The series events strive to make learning more comprehensive by combining classwork with real-world experiences, as students study the authors’ work in their English courses.
The event, supported by the college’s English Department, is free and open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask Fridlund questions and have their books signed at the event.
