Access to some network drives is available remotely using your web browser.
New File Access Portal
A new File Access web page is available here: https://files.anokaramsey.edu
Note: The URL to connect to the File Access web pages must start with https://
When asked to login, use the same username and password as you would to login to computers on campus. Registered students can initialize a network user account online.
Once logged in, The Home button on the left will display the list of File Access shortcuts. Click the File Access shortcut link to display the contents of that folder.
Please note that the number of files and folders displayed is related to the height of your web browser. If you do not see all the files in your folder, use the Page navigation buttons along the tool bar to change which files are displayed. The toolbar also contains buttons to upload files, and create new folders in the currently displayed folder.
The method of accessing files using WebDav explained below will be retired at the start of Summer semester 2009.
Using Internet Explorer on Windows XP
- Start Internet Explorer
- Click the File menu and select Open
- In the Open field, enter this URL: https://fileaccess.anokaramsey.edu and click the checkbox by Open as Web Folder
and click the OK button.
Screen Shot
- Note: the URL must have https:// in it (SSL is required), and the Open as Web Folder box must be check
- When prompted to login, enter your username and password just like you would to login on campus and click OK.
- Note: the first time you open this web folder on a computer, you may be prompted to login twice. If a new window opens, but you do not see any folders, minimize the new window or check the Windows task bar for another login dialog box. Enter your username and password again and click OK. Screen Shot
- If you continue to be prompted for your username and password, try entering your username as: an.cc.mn.us\username
Files can be dragged and dropped to and from the open web folder window. Files can also be opened directly (without first copying them to your computer), but you may be prompted to login for each file. Files opened directly from the web folder window can save back to that folder location.
A shortcut to the web folder location is also created automatically in My Network Places. This shortcut can be used in the future to access your files without having to go through Internet Explorer. Screen Shot
If you receive an error message after logging in and trying to open one of the top folders, try recreating the connection with a different URL, shown below.
