Calculating Your Grade Point Average (GPA) and Completion Rate...
Calculating Your Semester GPA:
Your GPA is determined by dividing the total number grade points earned by the total of number of credit hours attempted. For example, 45 grade points divided by 15 credit hours earned = 3.0 GPA. Anoka-Ramsey Community College is on a 4 point system, so:
A = 4 points
B = 3 points
C = 2 points
D = 1 point
F = 0 points
If, for example, you earned an A in English 1121 (4 credit hours), then you would earn 16 points (A = 4 points x 4 credits hours = 16 points).
If you withdraw from a course and receive a W, those credit hours are not considered when figuring out your GPA. For more assistance with figuring out your GPA, use this online GPA Calculator. You may also ask an advisor, but please note that advisors will not calculate your GPA for you.
Calculating Your Semester Completion Rate:
Your completion rate indicates the credits you've earned compared to the credits you've attempted. To figure out your completion rate, you divide the credits earned by credits attempted and multiply by 100. These numbers are indicated at the bottom of your transcript.
Example:
42 credits earned
56 credits attempted
42 / 56 x 100 = 75
Completion Rate = 75%
Note: Transfer credits generally are not included in the GPA or completion rate calculations. |
