Tutor Training As the old adage states, "experience is the best teacher." This especially holds true for tutoring. Sheer practical experience will give new tutors many of the tools that they need. But before tutors embark on this journey called “experience," it is extremely important to start out with some basic guidelines.
Follow the steps below:
Please complete the following assignments and attend the required face-to-face training sessions on your campus:
- Complete the Interdisciplinary Tutor Training assignments listed below, print them and hand them in to the Academic Support Center.
- View the Tutor Training Video (must have QuickTime to load) and record answers on notebook paper to be turned in to the ASC upon completion. Do not click on submit button.
- Tutors, discover your personal learning style. Take the Index of Learning Styles Questionnaire. Submit your answers directly and receive an informative visual.
Kathie Read, Learning Resource Center Coordinator of the American River College, graciously granted her permission for the Academic Support Center of Anoka-Ramsey Community College to adapt her excellent Online Tutor Training Project for our college.
