Conversation Partners

Interested in Conversation Partners?

What it is

Participants in Conversation Partners meet with an assigned partners once a week for casual cross-cultural conversations about a variety of fun topics.

Whenever possible, we pair students seeking to practice their US-style English with lifelong English speakers.


How it works

–Attend one 45-minute information and orientation session (See below)

–Fill-out an application. 

–Meet with your assigned partner for 1 hour per week for ten weeks to talk about topics of your choice or topics from our list of recommended subjects

–Turn in a list of meeting times & dates at the end of the semester 


Who can be a partner

Anoka-Ramsey students age 18 and older and Anoka-Ramsey staff, faculty, and administrators are all eligible.

Please attend one of our orientation meetings.

If you are current participant, you've probably been assigned a faculty mentor.

You can find your mentor's contact information by checking the confirmation email that we sent when we assigned you a partner.

The Partner Coordinator can answer questions about your partner's contact information or send you a copy of your confirmation email.

Your Conversation Partners Handbook includes copies of the meeting log, tips on dealing with difficulties, and a long list of possible conversation topics.
