Assessments and Inventories

Do you offer assessments and inventories to help me with career decisions?

ARCC Counselors use a variety of career assessment tools that help you understand your work-related interests, values, skills, and personality factors. Two of the most commonly used instruments:

The Strong Interest Inventory (SII) is based on the idea that individuals are more satisfied and productive when they work at tasks that they find interesting and when they work with people whose interests are similar to their own. The SII measures your interests in a wide range of occupations, occupational activities, hobbies, leisure activities and types of people. The SII costs $10.00 and takes about 30 minutes to complete.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is designed to help you understand your unique personality and the way you relate to others around you. The MBTI can help you determine your preferences for how you take in information and how you make decisions. The MBTI costs $15.00 and takes about 30 minutes to complete.

It is best to meet with an ARCC Counselor prior to taking the SII and/or MBTI to make sure they’ll meet your needs.   Your results are confidential and will be released only to you. A one-hour interpretation appointment with an ARCC counselor is required for each instrument.

To schedule the Strong Interest Inventory (SII) and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI):

1) Prior to taking these assessment students are encouraged to schedule a Counseling appointment to determine your career assessment needs.
    (Optional but recommended)

2) Visit your campus Business Office to pay the assessment fee(s)

        SII = $10.00

        MBTI = $15.00

3) Take receipt(s) to your campus Information Center and get information on how to complete assessment.

4) Complete the assessment.

5) Schedule an interpretation appointment. A one-hour appointment is required for each instrument.
