In a tale of two halves, the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Golden Rams Men’s Basketball team lost to Minneapolis Community and Technical College, 78-59, Wednesday, Jan. 20 in Mpls., Minn.
A strong first half with good offense and solid defense led to a 36-31 halftime lead for the Golden Rams. Minneapolis came out with a renewed intensity in the second half that Anoka-Ramsey just couldn’t match. Minneapolis steadily built their lead and pulled away for the victory.
The Golden Rams shot 50 percent (13-26) in the first half but only managed 28 percent (7-25) in the second half. Conversely, Minneapolis was held to 38.5 percent in the opening half (10-26) but made 72.4 percent of their second half attempts (21-29).
Quincy Bethea Jr. was the only Golden Ram in double figures as he poured in a season-high 27 points on 10-22 shooting, including 7-16 from the three-point line. He also finished with a team-high six rebounds. Charley Baker contributed a season-high eight assists..
Anoka-Ramsey drops to 8-10 on the season, 1-3 in the MCAC. The Golden Rams return home to the Coon Rapids Campus, Saturday, Jan.23, 3 p.m., to play Minnesota West Community and Technical College.
