Women’s Golden Rams Basketball Team Continue Trounce Itasca
The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women’s Golden Rams basketball team continued their winning ways with a 105 – 67 win over Itasca, Saturday, Dec. 5. Itasca was ranked third in the most recent NJCAA Division III National Poll.
“Itasca is a very good team and well coached” says Coach Dave DeWitt. “We just shot the ball extremely well. If we played them again we would have to play well to beat them.”
Shooting the ball well is exactly what the Golden Rams did. They shot 54 percent overall for the game, and 63 percent from behind the arc connecting on 12 of 19 three-point shots. They placed five players in double figures.
paced the scoring barrage with 21 points and 10 assists. She connected on 8 of 11 shooting including 4 of 6 from behind the arc. Marie Hanson contributed 19 points and 6 rebounds with17 of her 19 points coming in the first half. Stephanie Pilgrim added 18 points and 7 rebounds. Megan Schlauderaff scored 15 points while handing out 7 assists and grabbing 7 rebounds. Alyssa Silva rounded out the double digit scorers with 10 points, 4 assists and 5 rebounds. Jenna Anderson came off the bench to contribute 9 points going 3 for 4 on three pointers. Shawnell Vincent added 7 points and Mallory Cramer rounded out the scoring with 6 points and 10 rebounds.
Anoka-Ramsey now stands 8-2 on the season. Next up for the Golden Rams are road games at Hibbing and Rainy River (International Falls), Dec. 11 and 12.
Anoka-Ramsey Community College is a Division III Community College in Coon Rapids, MN and competes in the Minnesota Collegiate Athletic Conference. They have won six National Championships, the most recent in 2007 and been to the National tournament nine times.
