Golden Rams Women's Basketball Team Rolls Again

November 30, 2009

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women’s Basketball team rolled to an 84-29 win over Central Lakes College (CLC) in Brainerd, Minn., Saturday, Nov. 28. It’s the second time in a week that Anoka-Ramsey has had their way with Central Lakes. They beat them in the CLC Invite Saturday, Nov. 21 by a score of 98-48.

“Neither game was as easy as it might appear by the scores,” says Anoka-Ramsey Head Coach, Dave DeWitt. “Central Lakes lost their top player to an ACL injury, and are trying to learn how to play without her. They are well-coached though and will get better as the season moves on.”

Anoka-Ramsey gave up 20 offensive rebounds that resulted in 18 points for Central Lakes.

“There are plenty of things we need to improve on,” continues DeWitt. “Defensive rebounding is one of those things.”

“We won’t achieve much if we don’t fix that problem soon.” says DeWitt.

Anoka-Ramsey was paced in scoring by Shawnell Vincent, a sophomore from Minneapolis Henry with 19 points on 6 for 11 shooting from the field, and 7 for 8 from the free throw line. Vincent also pulled down 8 rebounds. Stephanie Pilgrim and Alex Moore each contributed 15 points. Moore also dished out 10 assists. Mallory Cramer added 9 points and 12 rebounds while Marie Hanson tallied 9 points and 13 rebounds.

Anoka-Ramsey currently stands 5-2 on the season and is ranked #7 in the latest NJCAA National poll.

Anoka-Ramsey Community College is a Division III Community College located in Coon Rapids, Minn. and competes in the Minnesota Collegiate Athletic Conference. The team has won six national championships, the most recent in 2007 and been to the national tournament nine times.
