Golden Rams Women’s Basketball Freshman Named MCAC Southern Division Player of the Week

Anoka-Ramsey freshman basketball player, Marie Hanson of Cambridge, Minn. was named MCAC Southern Division Player of the Week for her play against Arizona Western and Yavapai, two highly successful Division I JUCO programs in the Desert Classic in Yuma, Arizona.

In the two games, Hanson averaged 21.5 points and 8 rebounds, including a 29 point 9 rebound performance against Yavapai. In the Yavapai game Hanson connected on 7 of 14 shots from behind the arc.

“Marie is a hard working kid who is constantly striving to improve her game,” says Anoka-Ramsey Head Coach, Dave DeWitt. “Hopefully she will continue to improve each and every day in practice as well as games.”

Anoka-Ramsey Community College is a Division III JUCO in Coon Rapids, Minn. and competes in the Minnesota Collegiate Athletic Conference. The college has won six National Championships, most recently in 2007, and has also been to the national tournament nine times.
