Anoka-Ramsey Community College pumped their record up to 4-1 in the Minnesota Community College Conference and to 16-3 overall by defeating Riverland Community & Technical College and Minnesota State Community & Technical College-Fergus Falls in MCCC Southern Division play last week.

After a tough loss to Ridgewater College on January 9, the Golden Rams bounced back and defeated the Blue Devils of Riverland 73-54.  The Golden Rams were led by Jeff Stensrud with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 steals.  Nate Whisler was also a big contributor with 14 points, 8 assists and 4 steals.

The Golden Rams took on MSCTC-Fergus Falls in an important Southern Division match-up at the Anoka-Ramsey gym on Saturday.  The Golden Rams led 70-68 late in the game, when Scott Stebe made a shot to give the Spartans a 71-70 lead.  Anoka-Ramsey quickly moved the ball down the court to Brian Smith who passed the ball down low to Kelian Williams for the game winning shot with three seconds remaining on the clock.  The Spartans tried a desperation shot from behind the arc and missed, giving the Golden Rams a 72-71 victory.   

Anoka-Ramsey had five players that scored in double figures in their win over MSCTC-Fergus Falls.  Jeff Stensrud once again led the team with 16 points, Nate Whisler put up 14 points, Antonio Tate earned 12 points and 3 key steals, Michael Kizzee scored 11 points and Kelian Williams contributed 10 points.

Anoka Ramsey will be at Minneapolis on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m.  The Mavericks, 5-0 in the southern division, are a very sound team on both ends of the floor will be the last opponent for the Golden Rams before starting round two of MCCC Southern Division play.
