Periodic appraisal of college staff will be conducted. The purpose of the appraisal is to ensure:
Commitment to staff self-improvement and satisfactory performance.
Proper allocation of resources and assignment of staff.
A staff member who wishes to appeal his/her appraisal may do so by submitting a written statement to the Chief Human Resources Officer. The statement must be submitted within 30 calendar days of the official date of rating and must state that the employee would like to appeal the rating. Along with the written statement, the employee must submit in writing the justification for the appeal. In the event the appeal is submitted by a Human Resources Department staff member, the written statement is submitted to the President who will act as temporary chair of the appeals committee.
The appeal committee will consist of the Rating Supervisor (a member of MMA, Managerial Plan, or Administration), the Supervisor’s Supervisor (a member of MMA, Managerial Plan, or Administration), and the Chief Human Resources Officer (Administration). As chair of the appeal committee, the Chief Human Resources Officer has decision-making authority for appeals. In the event the appeal is submitted by a Human Resources Department staff member, the President will be the decision-making authority. The decision of the appointing authority is final.
The President is responsible for ensuring the periodic appraisal of college staff.
