Experiential learning at Anoka-Ramsey Community College is a broad program that includes participation in credit for prior learning, internships and service learning opportunities, and Community Engagement Scholars which fill a need in our students' education and in our community. Anoka-Ramsey recognizes that while students are earning credits, they gain lifelong skills, knowledge, values and are empowered to build relationships and make a difference in their community while demonstrating civic responsibility.
Anoka-Ramsey's Experiential Learning office promotes valuable relationships between community partners, faculty, students, and staff. The relationship is reciprocal-a student helps the organization meet its goals, and the organization gives students the opportunity to develop professional skills and contacts while applying academic work to real-world situations.
Building upon the success of existing activities, experiential learning engages students, faculty, and staff in both volunteer opportunities and service learning projects in order to cultivate life-long commitments to service and thereby improve the communities served by Anoka-Ramsey. The Experiential Learning Coordinator is committed to working with community partners that are working with the College as well as build relationships and connections with faculty, staff, and students.

Students visit the Office of Experiential Learning to:
- Indentify individual community service and volunteer opportunities that serve their personal, academic, and professional goals
- Research projects available to clubs/organizations that address community needs and build on an awareness of partners that welcome student involvement (e.g. food drives)
- Obtain ressources of publications, organizations, and issues of service-learning, community service, and civic engagement opportunities
Faculty contact the Office of Experiential Learning to:
- Make connections to integrate an activity or project into a particular course.
- Find a resource that offers assistance in brainstorming ways to tie projects to course goals, provide students' time logs, evaluation forms, goal worksheets, provide sample reflection activities, and schedule class presenations promoting the value of service learning
- Recruit and promote service learning, volunteer, and internship opportunities to students
