Thirteen Anoka-Ramsey Community College students recently returned from the Region 5 (Midwest) Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) in Lincoln, Neb.The weeklong event, filled with productions and competitions, celebrates the most vital college theater programs in the country.

“These students put forth their best efforts, and we as an institution are very proud of how well they represented Anoka-Ramsey Community College at the largest regional festival in the United States,” says Anoka-Ramsey Theatre Faculty member, Blayn Lemke.
Anoka-Ramsey students joined more than 1,500 students from 84 colleges and universities in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, North and South Dakota to have their skills assessed in five discipline areas: acting, design, directing, playwriting and technical application.
This year, Anoka-Ramsey students participated in four discipline areas: acting, design, technical application and playwriting.
- The Anoka-Ramsey team placed eight out of 15 teams in the technical application competition called Stage Crew Showdown. Skills assessed included: stage weight transfer, knot tying, lighting instrument transport, mount and focusing as well as curtain draping.
- Four Anoka-Ramsey students were nominated to compete against 325 other students in the Irene Ryan Acting competition. Three of the four Anoka-Ramsey students made it to into the group of 64 semi-finalists. Congratulations to Autumn Sisson, Jarome Smith and Mandi Trandem.
- Finally, in the discipline of design, associate of fine arts in Art major, Chris M. Dugan was named Region 5 Champion in theatrical poster for his design for the Anoka-Ramsey production of Major Barbara.
