College Choir Welcomes Community to Sing-Along

August 15, 2013

Anoka-Ramsey Community College’s Chorale, now entering its third season, welcomes all community members, alumni, staff, faculty and students to join, and it is free. No audition is necessary, previous choral experience helpful but not required.

Rehearsals will be Tuesdays, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Coon Rapids Campus beginning Sept. 10. The rehearsals culminate in a performance of works dedicated to U.S. armed forces. The performance will include a major work by Benjamin Britten with a professional orchestra and a new setting of the Gettysburg Address to mark the 150th anniversary of the speech in a concert Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Coon Rapids Campus Performing Arts Center.

This is the third choral ensemble at the college’s Coon Rapids Campus and the seventh performing group: jazz band, guitar ensemble, string orchestra, concert band are also offered.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to honor our men and women in the military through music,” says Music Faculty member Melissa Bergstrom. “Our repertoire will be moving, accessible yet profound while our rehearsals will be engaging and energetic. If you sing in your church choir, your high-school choir or in your car, we invite you to sing at Anoka-Ramsey!”

For more information about this choir, contact Melissa Bergstrom by Sept. 6 at Melissa.Bergstrom@anokaramsey.edu or 763-433-1328.
