Minnesota Potters: Sharing the Fire Continues with Documentary, Traveling Exhibit, Workshops

November 08, 2012

Anoka-Ramsey Community College continues to promote ceramics arts in Minnesota with more Minnesota Potters: Sharing the Fire events including a documentary DVD in late-October, upcoming exhibits and a workshop.

The Sharing the Fire documentary DVD, featuring Minnesota ceramic artists: Warren MacKenzie and Guillermo Cuellar, Linda Christianson and Jil Franke, Bob Briscoe and Jason Trebs, and Richard Bresnahan and Steven Lemke, is available for purchase through the Anoka-Ramsey Community College bookstore.

The documentary will also air on tpt:

  • Sunday, Nov. 18, 4 pm: tpt MN Channel 2.2
  • Saturday, Dec. 8, 1 am, 7 am, 1 pm and 7 pm: tpt Life Channel 2.3

The Sharing the Fire exhibition is traveling through the state at the following locations:

  • Bemidji State University Talley Gallery through Nov. 16, 2012.
  • Winona State University Watkins Gallery Jan. 9 through Feb. 1, 2013
    • With workshop and lecture by Richard Bresnahan, one of the featured Minnesota potters: Jan. 26, 2013, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The goal of the Sharing the Fire project was to encourage and record the rich history of ceramics in Minnesota. The project was made possible by a 2011 Folk and Traditional Arts grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board received by Anoka-Ramsey Community College and coordinated by college Art Faculty member Mark Lambert.

Anoka-Ramsey Community College is a fiscal year 2012 recipient of a Folk and Traditional Arts grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. These activities were funded, in part, by the arts and cultural heritage fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the Legacy Amendment vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
