Human Trafficking Presentations, March 24

March 04, 2011

Anoka-Ramsey Community College Coon Rapids Campus is hosting two, free presentations by Just Cause Ministries and Civil Society about human trafficking, March 24, 10 a.m. to noon in the Courtyard Commons, and again at 6 to 8 p.m. in the Legacy Room.

“The Facts: Sex Trafficking” by The Advocates for Human Rights and The Schapiro Group report an estimated 12.3 million people are forced into some sort of human trafficking at any given time, earning human traffickers more than $31 billion. Every year 50,000 women and children are brought to the United States to work as slaves.

Closer to home in Minnesota, it is estimated that 8,000 to 12,000 people are involved in prostitution/sex trafficking every day.

Please join the community for an eye-opening presentation on human trafficking. Refreshments will be provided.

The event is sponsored by college student organizations including: the Multicultural Club, Amnesty International, Phi Theta Kappa, the African Student Association and Student Government, as well as the college Departments of Student Life and Multiculturalism & Diversity.
