College Student Art Sale-Unique Gifts, Good Cause, Great Value

April 27, 2009
The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Coon Rapids Campus Art Club is holding their Student Art Sale, Wednesday, April 29, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday, April 30, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Coon Rapids Campus College Services area.

Student art by (from left) Selena Peacock, William Mevissen and Caitlin Petersen will be among the work for sale at the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Student Art Sale, April 29, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and April 30, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Coon Rapids Campus College Services area.

“These bi-annual student art sales provide students the opportunity to lead and learn real life skills,” says Anoka-Ramsey Art Faculty Member, Mark Lambert. “They are also an opportunity for the community to support community arts and purchase unique pieces at amazingly low prices.”

One-of-a-kind gifts including hand-blown glass pieces, ceramic pieces with beautiful textures and glazes, paintings and pencil and charcoal drawings will be available for purchase just in time for the gift-giving season.

“Most people in the Art Club here at Anoka-Ramsey have been working on their art for two to three years, so the pieces people can buy are really refined,” says student-ceramicist, Caitlin Petersen. “There are strong voices in the work.”

“These sales are valuable for so many reasons,” says student-ceramicist, Selena Peacock, whose ceramic work will also be for sale. “We get experience with event set-up, pricing and marketing, and meeting with people gives us a chance to explain or work processes and get feedback. It also builds our confidence as artists as we get ready to move on to the next level of studies.”

Both Peterson and Peacock intend to graduate from Anoka-Ramsey this spring with an associate of Fine Arts degree and then transfer to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Don’t miss your chance to support young artists by adding to your collection of original art work or give a gift like no other. For more information, visit www.AnokaRamsey.edu.
