Prior to coaching, Olson was a highly competitive volleyball player. She played four years at the Division II level at Concordia University-St. Paul and assisting the team in earning an overall record of 130-15. Her efforts were acknowledged with four Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) titles, three NSIC tournament titles and two NCAA North Central Region titles. She was also an ESPN Magazine Academic All-American, a 2003 NCAA Division II National Runner Up and 2005 NCAA Division II Elite Eight Appearance. Her career boasts 684 kills and 1591 digs, ranking her third on Career Leader List. “I am looking forward to continuing Anoka-Ramsey’s success as one of the top teams in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference,” Olson says of her new head coach role. The 2009 season starts in August and runs through early November. The Golden Rams are only returning one player, Sarah Smith, for the upcoming season so Olson is actively recruiting to fill in for key starters from last year. “The team needs women who want to play, want to win and want to have fun,” Olson says. “And I will be there with them to coach and help them succeed at state and qualify for the National tournament.” Learn more about Anoka-Ramsey Community College volleyball program at visit the Athletic Department's Web page or call 763-433-1360. |
