Anoka-Ramsey Community College proudly announces its new associate of science degree with an emphasis in Health. This degree will meet the needs of future job market in Minnesota and across the globe, as well as make transferring to a four-year institution even easier for students. The associate in science degree with emphasis in Health will enable students to focus studies on health-related issues and interests. The program’s interdisciplinary emphasis will address a variety of health topics and perspectives, and will allow students to begin to develop an understanding of personal, public and community health issues. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics health-related occupational fields are anticipated to grow much faster than the average for all occupations from 2004 to 2014. Fields such as health educators and medical and health services management are expected to increase 22 percent. Currently, the college is working on articulation transfer agreements with St. Cloud State University, Bemidji State University, Minnesota State University-Moorhead and other postsecondary institutions. Whether considering a profession in the health or related academic track, students completing their first two years of higher education in Anoka-Ramsey’s health program will provide the lower division coursework to form the basis for a four-year degree in public health, community health, health education and related degree areas. "This is a very exciting time for health programs at Anoka-Ramsey," says Luanne Kane, the college's Dean of Educational Services. "This new degree program joins our physical therapist assistant degree program, our integrative health and healing certificate and degree program, our Biomedical Technology certificate and degree programs and our well-established nursing programs to offer a broad range of health-related academic choices."
