Championship Golf Added to College-Sports Center Partnership

February 26, 2008
With Weight Training and Conditioning and Fitness Walking courses already underway as part of their College on Your Corner, Anoka-Ramsey Community College added another option to their partnership with the National Sports Center in Blaine (1700 105th Ave. NE). Beginning March 11 and running through May 6, PGA-pro Scott Roth will be teaching golf.
PGA Pro Scott Roth Through Anoka-Ramsey Community College's College On Your Corner, PGA Pro Scott Roth (shown) will teach golf at the National Sports Center in Blaine, March 11 through May 6, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. Register now by visiting www.AnokaRamsey.edu or calling 763-433-1200.

Over a lunch hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 12:50 p.m., students can get Roth's help with strategy and rules and improve their game.

"I am looking forward to teaching at the college level again,"says Roth. "Some of my best memories are teaching golf classes at Iowa State University."

Roth is the head golf professional at Victory Links Golf Course and National Youth Golf Center (NYGC), a PGA Tour-designed course at the National Sports Center, which hosts more than 28,000 public golf rounds annually. As Director of Instruction at NYGC, Roth is responsible for the creation, planning and execution of more than 8,000 lessons annually. To date in his distinguished career, Roth earned National Top 50 Junior Golf Teacher in 2005 and 2006, and Top 50 Honorable Mention Teacher in 2007. Prior to his appointment at Victory Links, he served as a golf professional and course manager at several golf facilities in Iowa, northern Minnesota and Florida.

"My approach to teaching is very simple," says Roth, who has instructed more than 10,000 students. "I try to give information that will lead the student to discover their swing in his or her own way. When changes are needed, I keep them simple so the student can put them into play right away."

The college-center partnership brings fitness-focused classes during regular business hours to northern metro residents and those employed in the area. This unique collaboration also allows participants access to the expert educational programs provided by the college as well as the center's 600-acre campus and state-of-the-art facilities.

"This latest addition to the college's College On Your Corner course offerings, as well as the partnership with the center itself, exemplifies the college's commitment to serve the community," says Jill Snippen, Director of Continuing Education and Customized Training. "With Roth, students have the unique opportunity to learn from a 20-year PGA veteran on a PGA-designed course."

To register for this new golf course or for more information about College On Your Corner course offerings, contact Anoka-Ramsey Community College at 763-433-1200 or visit www.AnokaRamsey.edu.
