Graduation and Commencement 2012


Anoka-Ramsey Community College hosts commencement for graduates at the end of Spring Semester.  The deadlines for submitting a graduation application are as follows:

Fall Semester: DEADLINE is July 1
Spring Semester: DEADLINE is November 1
Summer Session: DEADLINE is April 1

All associate degree graduates are invited to participate to in the Commencement Ceremony to celebrate your hard work and achievements! Students who have submitted graduation applications for Fall 2011, Spring 2012, or Summer 2012 are welcome to participate in the ceremony.

 

General Information

  • Caps and Gowns: Caps and gowns are required to participate in commencement, and may be purchased through the bookstore.
  • Catalog Requirement: Candidates for a two-year degree may choose to fulfill degree requirements outlined in any single catalog under which the student was enrolled, provided the catalog was in effect no more than four years preceding the date of graduation.
  • Degree Audit Reports: Find out if you have met your degree requirements by getting an interactive audit report. Request audit online or schedule an appointment with a counselor or advisor for assistance.
  • Diplomas and Diploma Covers: Diploma covers are handed out at the commencement ceremony. If you are not participating in Commencement, but would like a diploma cover, contact the Records and Registration Office. Diplomas are mailed approximately eight weeks after final certification.
  • Nursing Pinning Ceremony: A Pinning Ceremony is held in the fall for Cambridge Campus nursing graduates and in the spring for Coon Rapids Campus nursing graduates.
  • Residency Requirement: At least 20 semester credits of your degree must be earned at Anoka-Ramsey This residency requirement is reduced to 12 credits if you have transferred in at least eight semester credits from another Minnesota State Colleges and Universitiies system institution or from the University of Minnesota.

Graduation Planning

NOTE: Information will be updated as necessary. Students are encouraged to check their college email and this website regularly.

Students who have completed their degree requirements in Fall 2011 and students who plan to complete their degree requirements in Spring 2012 or Summer 2012 are eligible and encouraged to participate in the annual commencement ceremony. To participate, students must follow the steps identified below.

Cambridge Campus

  1. Purchase a graduate cap, tassel and gown set at the Bookstore.
    • Students participating in the ceremony must wear cap, tassel and gown.
    • Students will receive 2 free commencement invitations with purchase.
    • Optional items available from the Bookstore include additional commencement invitations, Honors Braid (must meet eligibility criteria), and Phi Theta Kappa Tassel and Stole (must meet eligibility criteria)
  2. Request special accommodations, if necessary, for self and/or guests with Jill Snippen.
  3. Confirm or update your current mailing address online here.

Coon Rapids Campus

  1. Submit a Graduation Application
  2. View Coon Rapids Candidate for Graduation letter.
  3. Attend Grad Finale: April 11, 9-1 pm or 5-7 pm, Riverview Room

Grad Finale

By attending Grad Finale, you will be able to conveniently accomplish the remaining preparation activities at one time. Staff will be present to assist you and answer your questions. You will:

  1. Submit an Intent to Walk card
  2. Complete your Commencement Photo Card.
  3. Purchase a graduate cap, tassel and gown set.
    • Students participating in the ceremony must wear cap, tassel and gown.
    • Students will receive 2 free commencement invitations with purchase.
    • Optional items available from the Bookstore include additional commencement invitations, Honors Braid (must meet eligibility criteria), and Phi Theta Kappa Tassel and Stole (must meet eligibility criteria)

Diploma Information

Diplomas are ordered for all graduates at the end of the term, after all applicants have been evaluated. Fall graduate diplomas are mailed in February, spring graduate diplomas are mailed in July, and summer graduate are mailed their diplomas in mid-September. Diplomas are mailed to the address on file; graduates should verify their address information online and update it as necessary.
Diploma Covers will be given out at the commencement ceremony. If you would like a cover and do not intend to participate in the ceremony, email Rhonda Kern or call 763-433-1362. Please verify your address information online and update it if necessary.
