Associate in Applied Science Degree
Choose a career that allows you to be involved with the rehabilitation
of patients with various physical disorders, disabilities,
and orthopedic injuries. Physical Therapist Assistants are
educated to assist the physical therapist to assess the physical
capabilities of an individual and to treat the individual
using various therapy techniques to regain functional independence.
Treatments include but not limited to: thermal modalities,
massage, electrical stimulation, therapeutic exercise and
gait training.

- Physical Therapist Assistant faculty have years of experience
in the industry in a variety of patient care settings. Each
faculty member has a Master of Science in Physical Therapy.
- Laboratory classes provide hands-on application of therapy
techniques and use of equipment.
- Provides students with 13-week clinical internship opportunities
in three different physical therapy settings.
- Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education
(CAPTE) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
nationally accredits this program.
Graduates from the Physical Therapy Assistant Associate in Applied Science Degree Program have the opportunity
to work in a variety of settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation
centers, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, home
care facilities, and schools.
The 67 credits in the program include specific Physical
Therapist Assistant courses and classes in anatomy and physiology,
medical terminology, psychology, and general education classes.
Expected starting salary ranges from $25,000-$37,000 dependent
on the work setting.
