Registered Nurse
Associate in Science Degree

Our Registered Nursing Associate in Science Program is approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. The curriculum is designed to be completed in two academic years. However, many students with family and job responsibilities elect to complete a majority of general education credits prior to entering the nursing course sequence. Admission and information booklets are available for students through the Career Center or Admission Department on both campuses. We recommend that prospective students attend a nursing information session conducted by the counseling/advising staff.

We offer two options for completing the associate in science degree in nursing:

Two-Year RN Sequence: four-semester, sequential nursing curriculum with instruction occurring on campus and in clinical facilities.

LPN-RN Sequence: three semesters (Summer, Fall & Spring) for required nursing courses with additional time being required to complete the general education requirements; sequential nursing curriculum designed for the recent practical nurse graduate or practicing LPN with instruction occurring on campus and in clinical facilities. Day or evening scheduling options are available.

Related Program Requirements:

  • Students must demonstrate competence in Mathematics for Health Science (MATH 0110). Students may achieve 90% on the MATH 0110 equivalency exam or satisfactorily complete the course.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant registration for 2-year RN Option students.
  • Current CPR certification
  • Physical examination and immunizations (required before beginning the nursing program)
  • Individual professional liability insurance (required by the clinical facilities). It is expected that nursing students carry their own personal health insurance policy. Proof that these requirements are met must be furnished by the student.
  • State law requires that any person who provides services that involve direct contact with patients and residents at a health care facility have a background study conducted by the state.
