Summer Scholars Academy

The Summer Scholars Academy is designed to help first-time entering college students prepare for college-level coursework and advance their academic skills.

Participation in the Summer Scholars Academy eases the transition into college for newly-entering students, recent high school graduates and returning students.

This is three-week program that offers accelerated courses in math, reading and English. The goal is to eliminate the need to enroll in developmental courses as a first-year college student.

This is an opportunity for students to advance from being on the verge of developmental course work to enrolling into college-level classes for the fall semester.

We look forward to meeting you this summer and helping you achieve your goals.

  • The program's courses build knowledge and skills in reading, English, and/or math. Students will also gain success strategies such as time management, study skills, technology skills, and financial literacy. With individualized support from Anoka-Ramsey faculty and staff, this program will not only help attendees become stronger students, but can help students focus on the road ahead, potentially saving time and money.

  • The Summer Scholars Academy is ideal for students to get to know peers who can provide support during the program and beyond. The program enrolls a small cohort of students, providing ample opportunity to get to know other college students to work, learn, think and have fun together.

  • In addition to preparing students for the future of starting college in the fall, the Summer Scholars Academy is a chance to think and dream even bigger. Anoka-Ramsey can assist students in considering academic goals and career goals, and help map out the best path to achieving those goals.

  • Anoka-Ramsey is overflowing with resources to help students succeed in college and life. Through the Summer Scholars Academy, students have an opportunity to use many on-campus services such as tutoring, the Writing Center and the Math Skills Center. In addition, students learn about our advising and counseling services, workshops, campus events and much more.

    • $150 scholarship* for Summer Scholars who enroll full-time in the 2018 fall semester after completion
    • Transportation assistance in the form of a bus pass or gas card for participating students
    • Course acceleration which saves time and money. Students will have the opportunity to enroll in college-level courses in math, reading and/or English

*May be eligible for an additional $350 scholarship for 2019 spring semester from Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Summer Scholars must successfully complete 2018 fall semester.
