Junior and Senior High School Students

We’re glad you’re interested in attending Anoka-Ramsey! As a Postsecondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) student, you’ll find we offer many services to help you succeed.

In order to be eligible for the PSEO program as a Junior or Senior, a student must meet one of the following options:

High School Juniors

  • Public/Private High School GPA of 3.0 (unweighted, cumulative GPA)
  • Public/Private High School class rank in top 1/3
  • Nationally standardized test composite score at the 70th percentile or higher. Common tests include: ITED, CAT (Timed Version), ACT Aspire, PreACT, ACT, PSAT or SAT.

High School Seniors

  • High School GPA of 2.5 (unweighted, cumulative GPA)
  • Class rank in top 1/2
  • Nationally standardized test composite score at the 50th percentile or higher. Common tests include: ITED, CAT (Timed Version), ACT Aspire, PreACT, ACT, PSAT or SAT.

Please view our PSEO Admissions Steps and helpful information below.

  • Apply online for admission to the college. There is no cost to apply.

Once you have applied online, you need to submit the following before you will be accepted:

    • PSEO Notice of Student Registration form
      • Please complete this form, including a signature from your school counselor or administrator. The current PSEO Notice of Student Registration form (located in the Forms section on the right menu), allows for typed signatures and can be completed electronically.
    • High School Transcripts
      • Including class rank and GPA. If you are homeschooled or your school does not use class rank/GPA, or you do not qualify with your class rank/GPA, you will also need to submit a copy of a nationally standardized test score (Please see Academic Eligibility Requirements section below for examples of acceptable tests.)
      • An immunization form will also be required of homeschooled students by the 45th day of classes in their first semester.

    Email all documents to:

    PSEO@anokaramsey.edu

We are unable to take photographs of documentation but can accept scans and PDFs of transcripts and PSEO Notice of Student Registration forms.

    Or, mail them to:
    Anoka-Ramsey Community College
    ATT: PSEO Admissions
    300 Spirit River Dr S
    Cambridge, MN 55008

Please allow two weeks for your application to be processed. All applications are processed at the Cambridge Campus for both Coon Rapids Campus and Cambridge Campus students.

Watch your email for your Acceptance information. We will only email the address that you used to create your StarID and apply to Anoka-Ramsey.

  • You can meet Course Placement requirements by submitting scores from the ACT exam or the Accuplacer assessment. You can learn more about the assessment and determine if your ACT scores are sufficient for placement.

Due to COVID-19, our placement process has changed. If you did not already complete the Accuplacer or ACT, you will be placed into courses using your high school GPA and high school coursework. Placement based on high school GPA will continue through the registration for Spring 2021. More information about GPA placement will be included in your Acceptance email. If students are not satisfied with placement based on GPA and course completion, the Accuplacer Assessment may be offered in a remote capacity only if you have the necessary technology.

  • Anoka-Ramsey is not currently offering in person Orientation and Registration sessions. Currently, these are two separate steps – Online Orientation followed by a Post-Orientation Registration Appointment.

Once you have been admitted and received your PSEO Acceptance Email, you’ll be provided a link to sign up for an Online Orientation. More information on the Online Orientation.

After your Orientation is complete, you’ll be emailed a link to set up a Post-Orientation Registration Appointment with your assigned Academic Advisor. During this appointment (by phone or Zoom video) you’ll be able to discuss your course options, transfer plans and follow up on any items in the Online Orientation that you wanted more information on. You will be able to register during or anytime following this appointment.

Please note – your Academic Advisor will not know your high school graduation requirements. It is your responsibility to connect with your high school counselor, dean, or parent if homeschooled prior to your meeting with your Academic Advisor. There is a PSEO Advising Form (located in the Forms section on the right menu), that you can complete with the help of your high school counselor or dean. We recommend having that form nearby during your Post-Orientation Advising Appointment or emailing it to your advisor before your appointment.

  • Your books will typically be available for Pick-up roughly two weeks before the start of the semester. PSEO students are provided books for the semester but must return them within one week after the end of the semester. Students that do not return their books may be charged for the cost of the unreturned textbook(s).

Students can search their books and view book pick-up options from Anoka-Ramsey's Bookstore.

  • Anoka-Ramsey Community College follows the PSEO admission guidelines set forth by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) as well as the Anoka-Ramsey Admissions Policy. Students can qualify by meeting any of the eligibility criteria listed for the grade level they will be when participating in PSEO:

    High School Juniors

    • Public/Private High School GPA of 3.0 (unweighted, cumulative GPA)
    • Public/Private High School class rank in top 1/3
    • Nationally standardized test composite score at the 70th percentile or higher. Common tests include: ITED, CAT (Timed Version), ACT Aspire, PreACT, ACT, PSAT or SAT.

    High School Seniors

    • High School GPA of 2.5 (unweighted, cumulative GPA)
    • Class rank in top 1/2
    • Nationally standardized test composite score at the 50th percentile or higher. Common tests include: ITED, CAT (Timed Version), ACT Aspire, PreACT, ACT, PSAT or SAT.
  • Once students are admitted to Anoka-Ramsey and enroll in courses, they do not have to reapply every semester. Students are responsible for submitting an updated PSEO Notice of Student Registration form each semester, before their registration hold is lifted. Students can find their registration date here: Registration for Current Students

It is recommended that PSEO students meet with their assigned academic advisor each semester.

    Summer enrollment:

PSEO funding does not cover summer courses. If a current PSEO student would like to register for a summer course, they will need to complete a Financial Responsibility Agreement and then meet with their Academic Advisor to register.

    Readmission after a break:

If a PSEO student takes a semester off (not including summer) and would like to return to Anoka-Ramsey, they must work with the PSEO admissions office and submit new application materials (PSEO Notice of Student Registration form and high school transcript) to verify that they still meet the eligibility criteria.

Enrolling with Anoka-Ramsey after high school graduation:

Students who wish to continue with Anoka-Ramsey after they graduate high school can complete our PSEO/Concurrent to Undergraduate Request Form. That will allow us to update the application type without having a student complete a brand new application.

  • High school students who are not eligible for the PSEO program, or are interested in taking a class over the summer when PSEO funding is not available, may be permitted to enroll in courses outside of the PSEO program, as a Special High School Student. Students would be responsible for payment of tuition, fees, and books. Students who have completed or are enrolled in PSEO or Concurrent Enrollment (College in the high schools) courses should connect with their Academic Advisor to register for summer courses.

    Special High School Admissions process:

    • Submit Online Anoka-Ramsey application as a general student (not PSEO)
    • Submit the following documentation to the PSEO office
      • High school transcript
      • Two letters of recommendation
        • Letters must be from people outside of the applicant’s family such as an administrator, counselor or teacher that can speak to the student’s educational abilities.

      • Take Accuplacer assessment or submit equivalent ACT scores
