If you are a student who has graduated from high school or received your GED, and you have been admitted to Anoka-Ramsey, your next step is to complete orientation.

Follow the instructions below to complete the Pre-Orientation Entrance Steps and then the General Student Orientation Completion Steps to fulfill your orientation requirement as a new student.


  • Know Your StarID and Password.
  • Determine your placement for classes.
    • Review what can be used for course placement and complete the Course Placement Evaluation Request on the Testing Center's Webpage.

  1. Complete all pre-orientation entrance steps in the section above.
  2. Click here and complete the General Online Orientation Request Survey. Within 3 business days:
    • You will receive access and instructions to Online Orientation via email.
    • If some of your pre-orientation entrance steps are incomplete, you will be contacted.
  3. Login and complete all sections and quizzes of Online Orientation through your Desire2Learn (D2L) portal.
    • Once you have completed Online Orientation, you will be assigned an academic advisor and receive a welcome email from them within 2-3 business days.
  4. Use the email from your assigned advisor to schedule a Post-Orientation Advising Appointment.
  5. Meet with your advisor to register for classes and outline final steps to complete for spring semester.
