| Anoka-Ramsey Community College and the other public colleges and universities are working to make transfer easier. Students are encouraged to plan ahead, ask questions, and use the pathways created by transfer agreements. Some of the services and policies to assist you include:
General Guidelines for Transfer of Credits Institutions accept credits from courses and programs like those they offer. They look for similarity in course goals, content, and level. Baccalaureate degree programs usually count credits in three categories—general education, major/minor courses, and electives. Not every course that transfers will help students graduate. The key question is, “Will your credits fulfill requirements of the degree or program you choose?” If students change their career goals or majors, they might not be able to complete all degree requirements within the usual number of graduation credits. Transfer Agreements Transfer to Bachelor-Degree ProgramsAnoka-Ramsey Community College offers the appropriate coursework for the first half of most bachelor-degree programs. For Minnesota public universities, students are encouraged to complete the associate in arts degree that includes Minnesota Transfer Curriculum. In addition, transfer guides listing specific courses and catalogs for Minnesota Colleges and Universities and many out of state schools are available in the Coon Rapids Campus Career Center in Educational Services and from the Cambridge Campus Student Services Office. ARCC advisors and counselors cooperatively developed transfer guides for many public and private colleges throughout Minnesota and the region. Transfer guides outline degree requirements, identifying equivalent ARCC courses. Transfer guides are updated regularly and are available in the Career Center in Educational Services on the Coon Rapids and in the Student Services Office on the Cambridge Campus. Catalogs for Minnesota Colleges and many out-of-state colleges are available in these areas and on the Internet. Advisors and counselors are available to assist students explore transfer options and review transfer guides.
