PROCEDURE 3B.3/11 - Adding or Dropping Courses
for Policy 3B.3

Topics Courses

Topics courses are courses that address current interest or special needs or for which a staff member may have a special expertise. These courses are not intended to become permanent offerings and will not be listed in the College Catalog. The following guidelines apply to topics courses:

  • Topics courses are not intended to become permanent courses and will not be listed in the College Catalog.
  • Topics courses are numbered 1187.
  • Curriculum Proposal Form and Common Course Outline Form must be submitted to the division for discussion.
  • Curriculum Proposal Form and Common Course Outline Form must be submitted to AASC as information items
  • The Vice President of Educational Services or designee will announce the decision in the College Bulletin prior to the course being taught.

Experimental Courses

  • Experimental courses may become permanent courses.
  • Experimental courses are numbered 1189.
  • Experimental courses may be offered a maximum of three times. Prior approval is required each time.
  • Curriculum Proposal Form and Common Course Outline Form must be submitted to the division for discussion.
  • Curriculum Proposal Form and Common Course Outline Form must be submitted to AASC as information items.
  • The Vice President of Educational Services or designee will announce the decision in the College Bulletin prior to the course being taught.
