Anoka-Ramsey offers a variety of resources that support the needs of our students on either campus. Check out all the services available – free of charge to our students.

Email Accounts

All students registering for credit coursework are assigned an official email account upon registration. ARCC uses email as the primary method of communication with students. Students are responsible for information, notices and deadlines disseminated through email.

English Language Learners

Both campuses of ARCC offer materials and services for English Language Learners (ELL) and for students for whom English is a Second Language (ESL). In the Academic Support Center, students may use a dedicated ELL/ESL computer terminal to practice reading, writing and speaking skills, or take a free class. In the Library, students will find a videotape series on living in the United States. The series offers 26 episodes that profile everyday situations faced by individuals new to the country. Also available are audiotape recordings, including a variety of popular fiction and classics. Additional audiotapes allow self-directed study for those needing extra support and practice of language skills.

In addition to the developmental courses offered by ARCC, If you need to brush up your skills before enrolling in college, Mindquest Academy offers online classes to Minnesota adults who may not be college-ready.

Exceptions and Petitions

A student with unusual circumstances and seeking an exception to an academic rule or regulation may submit an Academic Standards Petition for review. A student with unusual circumstances and seeking an exception to an admission, registration, or other student service rule or regulation may submit an Exception to Policy Petition for review. A student seeking redress from application or interpretation of college rules and regulation should consult the Complaints and Grievance Policy.

Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Office processes and coordinates grant, loan and work-study assistance for students.

Health Insurance

Students are encouraged to have some type of health insurance to help pay for health care. ARCC does not provide health or accident insurance, and therefore, assumes no responsibility for medical expenses. However an insurance plan designed for MnSCU students is available (select "Minnesota Comm & Tech Coll" ).

All international students are required to purchase the MnSCU International Student Accident and Illness insurance plan as part of the International Student Admission process.

Housing List

The Coon Rapids Campus maintains a listing of local apartments and rooms available for rent and a listing of possible roommates. The housing list is updated monthly from call-in requests. The college does not screen or endorse listings for housing or roommates, so use your best judgment when meeting prospective roommates or investigating a nearby apartment.

Job Placement

The Coon Rapids Campus provides onsite job placement services offering free job search assistance to students, graduates and the community. The Job Placement Office provides information and training on:

Resume writing strategies and resume critique
Interviewing and application tips
Networking strategies
Internet job-search techniques
Labor market information
Miscellaneous job search information

The Job Placement Office also coordinates the college-wide Graduate Follow-Up Survey. All ARCC graduates are encouraged to complete our online follow-up survey. The information collected from this survey is used to improve program choices for future students and improve programming at Anoka-Ramsey Community College in general.

Library

The Libraries at each ARCC campus provide a variety of instructional resources and services to students. Each library also has individual study spaces as well as listening and viewing areas.

The book, periodical and non-print collection in each library is coordinated with the college curriculum to provide students with the resources relevant to their courses of study.

For information not available locally, students have access to materials from over 300 libraries through MINITEX, the state Interlibrary Loan Coordinating Office, and through WebPALS and MnLINK, the libraries’ online catalogs. WebPALS includes all MnSCU libraries, state agency libraries and a number of private academic libraries throughout the state. MnLINK includes the University of Minnesota libraries, additional private academic libraries and public libraries.

Student/Tech ID cards are required for checking out materials.

Lost and Found

Students may turn in or claim lost items at the Coon Rapids Campus Information Center or the Cambridge Campus Bookstore. The college disposes of property not claimed within 60 days.

Multicultural Student Services

The college encourages an atmosphere that welcomes students of color. Activities that promote multiculturalism are offered throughout the year and are open to the public. The Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs is a vital component to the college's commitment to diversity and multiculturalism.

Records and Registration

The Records and Registration Office processes admission applications, registration and transfer transactions, transfer and graduation evaluations, and maintains all permanent student records.

Security Escort to Car Service

A security escort service is available on each campus to walk you to and/or from your car or class Monday through Thursday evenings between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. (Cambridge) and between 6:30 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. (Coon Rapids). To request service, contact the Switchboard/Information Center before 9:45 p.m. (Cambridge) and 10:00 p.m. (Coon Rapids).

Student Bulletin

An electronic Student Bulletin relays official announcements, information and important events for all students.

Student/Tech ID Cards

Your Student/Tech ID Card is required to check out library materials, use the fitness center or open weight room, obtain free entrance into several student activities, and receive student discounts at participating Cambridge area and Coon Rapids area businesses.

The Cambridge Campus provides Student IDs through the Information Desk according to the following schedule:

Testing Services

The Academic Support Center at the Cambridge Campus and the Testing Center at the Coon Rapids Campus serve students by providing placement testing for appropriate course placement as well as alternative, career and make-up testing.

TRIO Student Support Services

The TRIO SSS Program serves 175 students on the Coon Rapids Campus. SSS provides a positive learning environment to facilitate the academic success of its participants. Services include academic advising, career counseling, tutoring, workshops, cultural activities and social events. Students also receive assistance with issues pertaining to graduation, transfer and the financial aid application process.

TRIO is funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Eligible students are those who are first generation students, students of moderate income or students with a disability.

Tutoring/Academic Support Center

The Academic Support Center (ASC) is a peer-tutoring program providing free, drop-in tutoring in a variety of subjects. The ASC supports an on-site computer lab, a collection of handouts on study skills and writing tips, study skills workshops and study group information.

Veteran’s Assistance

The College offers a variety of ways to assist Veterans as they re-enter and continue with education. Check out our Military Education Resource Center (MERC) and get connected with other vets, work closely with our Records Office to process your veterans benefits, watch for special events designed exclusively for veterans and their families.

Voter Registration

Minnesota Voter Registration cards are available from the Student Activities Office at the Coon Rapids Campus and the Student Services Office at the Cambridge Campus. The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State provides useful information for voters.
