The 19th annual Anoka-Ramsey Community College Coon Rapids Campus Foundation golf tourney, Tuesday, July 27 at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake, Minn. needs your help to raise funds for Anoka-Ramsey student scholarships.
The tournament, sponsored by the college’s Coon Rapids Campus Foundation with funding from the Mall of America, raises funds for the foundation’s scholarship program. The Coon Rapids Campus Foundation awarded more than 145 scholarships in 2009-2010, totaling more than $146,000.
Festivities for the fundraising event begin at noon with registration for carts, hole assignments and opportunities to view some of the tournament prizes and raffle items.
The roaring shotgun start is set for 1 p.m. to launch teams into 18-holes of golf in a best-ball scramble format on the club’s signature course.
Players can register individually for $125 and be placed into a foursome, or they can create their own foursome for $500. The registration fee includes the course fee, cart and buffet dinner. Additional dinner guests can be registered for $25 per person. Businesses have the chance to support the effort through sponsorships of holes and players, and prize donations.
Along with helping students succeed, participants receive an afternoon of golf, dinner and chances to win valuable prizes, including a car for a hole-in-one sponsored by Carlson Toyota . Prizes will be awarded at the Italian buffet, which begins at 6 p.m.
Event organizer and Anoka-Ramsey Alumni Director Michael Wall encourages participation at any level to help a worthy cause that ultimately supports the community.
“The scholarships, made possible by this tournament, are the educational lifeline for every kind of student, from the young adult working multiple part time jobs to the working parent to the young person who is the first in the family to ever attend college. In the end, they bring more to every aspect of our community."
