The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Art Department proudly announces the visiting artists for the Masters of Ceramics Symposium 2010, Sept. 9 and 10 at the college’s new Fine Arts Center at the Coon Rapids Campus.
The symposium, titled “Minnesota Ceramics: An Evolving Legacy,” will feature two renowned ceramic artists, Sam Chung and Julia Galloway, sharing slide presentations of their extensive art work, inspirations and influences and live demonstrations of their approaches and techniques of working in clay.
“Educators will have opportunities to collaborate with one another, inspire budding ceramic student-artists, and build interest among the general public,” says college Ceramics Faculty member, Mark Lambert. “For example, during an educators’ forum, respected educators will discuss current topics, trends and the future needs of academic ceramic arts programs.”
A panel discussion on Minnesota’s vibrant ceramic craft history will highlight the event. Panel members to date include: Randy Johnston, Marcia Anderson and Em or Mary Swartout.
Finally, the event will also offer:

The Masters of Ceramics Symposium 2010 is intended to engage Ceramic students and Faculty members from high schools, community colleges and universities, as well as the general public in the discussion and appreciation of this noteworthy art.
“We are excited about the many possibilities that this symposium offers, including the opportunity for us to share our new arts facility with the community,” concludes Lambert.
