Students Hit Highway to Clean-Up

Anoka-Ramsey Community College Phi Theta Kappa Coon Rapids Campus and  Environmental Science students teamed up to clean-up a two-and-a-half mile stretch of Hwy. 47 in the city of Nowthen, north of the Rum River.

This bi-annual, Adopt-A-Highway clean-up resulted in the collection of 29 large, bags of trash.

This stretch of highway is a cleaner place thanks to the efforts Anoka-Ramsey Director of Alumni, Michael Wall and Business Faculty member and Phi Theta Kappa advisor, John Mago and the following Anoka-Ramsey students:

Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than two million members and 1,200 chapters located in all 50 of the United States, U.S. territories, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Germany, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, United Arab Emirates and Palau.

The Environmental Science degree program at the college was first offered in 2006 to meet the growing demand for environmental professionals and for easy transfer to four-year environmental degree programs.
