Enrollment Hits Double Digit Increase at Anoka-Ramsey

October 14, 2009

Once again enrollment has risen at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Overall enrollment at the college has increased 11.6 percent this fall as compared to fall term 2008 at the 30-day mark. New student headcount increased 12.8 percent compared to fall 2008, while returning student headcount increased 10.8 percent compared to last fall.

The Anoka-Ramsey Cambridge Campus experienced a 19.4% increase in headcount, as compared to fall term 2008 . The Coon Rapids Campus experienced an 11.9 percent increase as compared to fall 2008.

The group making up the largest percentage in the increase are students 25 years of age and older. New students in this demographic increased a full 52.6 percent in the fall 2009 semester compared to last year. Returning students in this age group increased 22.3 percent.

Part of the 11.6 percent overall new student headcount increase has been accredited to the college’s Workforce Re-Training Initiative, which gave a 50 percent tuition discount to people throughout the state currently on unemployment. Currently, a total of 425 new and returning students are taking credit courses at both the Cambridge Campus and Coon Rapids Campus through the Workforce program.

Anoka-Ramsey offers programs for all stages in a person’s life from KidU summer courses for children and teens, to complete certificate programs, associate and transfer degrees, and advanced degrees as well as continuing education programs and customized training for businesses and organizations.
