January 20, 2010

Anoka-Ramsey Community College Theatre and Music Departments invite everyone to enjoy the college’s winter musical, “The Robber Bridegroom,” Feb. 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13, 7:30 p.m., at the Coon Rapids Campus Performing Arts Center.

“The Robber Bridegroom,” based on a Grimm’s fairytale and a Eudora Welty novel, is set in Rodney, Miss. in 1795 and focuses on the romping adventures of Jamie Lockhart, a Southern gentleman who robs travelers of their gold and so much more.

Nearly 20 student-actors fill the roles of comic and endearing characters, such as a brainless goof named Goat, a scheming stepmother and a thief that carries his brother’s singing head in a trunk.

Audiences can expect a rousing musical event with square dancing and high-stepping and a whole lot of laughter.

Tickets for “The Robber Bridegroom” are $8 and are available online at www.arccbookstore.com/coonr , at the college bookstore at 763-433-1250, and at the box office 30 minutes before the scheduled performance.
