Student Employment

Student employment is financial aid, which means the first step in getting a job on campus is to be notified in your award letter that you are eligible. The amount listed on your award letter is the maximum amount you may earn for the academic year. Student employment funds are limited, so they are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Being awarded student employment is not necessarily a guarantee of a job.

If you have been awarded student employment and are interested in securing a job on campus, check out our Job Listings . Once you’ve identified a job you are interested in, contact the supervisor to set up an interview. Make sure you bring all the materials you received with your award letter to your interview. After you have secured a student employment position, you and the supervisor will need to complete the Student Employment Authorization Form. Bring your completed Student Employment Authorization Form to the Financial Aid Office along with your social security card and drivers license or other acceptable documentation as listed on the Authorization Form. This must be done BEFORE performing any work as any hours worked before receiving your time sheet from the Financial Aid Office will be considered volunteer hours.

Student employment funds are available to be earned, and are thus disbursed to you in the form of a paycheck. You will be paid for the hours you work, up to your awarded amount. Payday is the second Friday following the Wednesday that time sheets are due. Students have the option of direct deposit or checks are mailed to the student's permanent mailing address.

Job Title: America Reads Tutor

Duties: Tutoring elementary-aged children in reading skills at a pre-arranged local elementary school or community site. We are looking for students to tutor in Cambridge.

Qualifications: Able to work at least two, two-hour shifts per week off-campus. Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm, no Fridays or weekends. Plus meet all requirements of host-site including dress code, standards of conduct, attendance policies and passing a background check.

Job Title: Fitness Center Worker

Duties: Provide orientation/instruction regarding equipment usage. Monitor sign-in sheets, answer telephone inquiries, maintain cleanliness and order of fitness equipment. Provide support in emergency/medical situations.

Qualifications: Satisfactory completion of HPER 1160 or similar weight-training course. Paid experience at Fitness Center also accepted. Hiring for Mondays and Wednesdays 5-6pm.

Job Title: Food Service Assistant

Duties: Food Service Assistants will work in varying areas including customer service, cash handling, food preparation, beverage preparation, catering, dishwashing, stocking, and cleaning.

Qualifications: Applicants must have their 2013-14 FAFSA submitted and be qualified for work study. Applicants must be available to work a minimum of two shifts per week to be considered. Occasional weekend shifts may also be available . Previous customer service, cash handling, food preparation, or coffee shop experience is a plus, but not required. Must also be dependable, committed to the entire semester, and able to stand for long periods of time. Job Title: Geography/Geology Resources Assistant

Duties: Assists students in the computer lab with project research questions and the use of a variety of computer programs including online resources. Organizes, keeps inventory and maintains maps and other Geography resources generally kept in F107. Laminates maps, creates packets of geography activity materials and prints materials as needed. Converts slides to a digital format and researches and/or replaces digital materials used in course materials. Creates and changes bulletin boards and other materials each week in and out of the classroom. Able to interpret, transcribe or rework verbal and written materials used in the class.

Qualifications: Able to work independently. Has taken at least one Geography class from the instructor and demonstrates a working knowledge of basic geographic principles. Hours arranged throughout the week will vary with approximately 10 - 15 hours per week. Must be able to take direction and to be organized. Job Title: Information Desk Assistant-Days

Duties: General office duties including: Good customer service, computer skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Answering phones; scheduling appointments; greeting students, staff, community members and directing them to the appropriate resource; calling from call lists and other general office duties and tasks assigned.

Qualifications: Applicants must have their 2014-2015 FAFSA submitted and be qualified for work study. Being familiar with ARCC and ATC web sites and navigating through its links is a plus! Applicants must be available to work Monday through Thursday (10-1:30). There is some room for flexibility.

Job Title: Peer Tutor

Duties: Duties: Provide peer tutoring for enrolled students in math, writing, chemistry, and/or other subject areas.

Qualifications: •An “A” or “B” grade in the subject(s) to be tutored. •Reference from an instructor in the subject(s) to be tutored. •Cumulative GPA of 3.0 •Must eligible for financial aid. •Friendly, patient, and respectful as tutors work with a wide range of students. •Responsible, positive attitude, and willingness to develop content knowledge and tutoring skills. Duties: Maintain/clean CPR manikins and other Wellness Department equipment. Assist with other projects as needed.

Job Title: CNET Assistant

Duties: Monitor Computer Networking computer labs, assist Computer Networking students with labs, help Computer Networking instructors manage and coordinate class activities, assist in computer hardware, software and networking equipment diagnosis and repair, assist in the management of NETLAB+ virtual environment. Needed: (1) Student 12-15 hours/week.

Qualifications: Knowledge of computer hardware and software used by the college, including Microsoft network operating systems and Cisco hardware/software. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows is essential. Experience with Linux and VMware is desirable.

Job Title: Mosaic Center Work-Study

Duties: data entry, creating marketing tools, setting appointments, and working with students

Qualifications: The individuals selected for this position will need to have extreme knowledge in working with excel, access, PowerPoint, and publisher. The selected candidates will need to have artistic talents as she/he will be asked to create visuals for advertisements. Customer Service skills are a must for this position, and selected candidates will need to be skilled in diffusing situations when problems arise. Job Title: Service Desk Assistant

Duties: Work with OIT (Office of Information Technology) Service Desk team and other OIT team members to cover the open computer lab, being available to help students, faculty, and staff members as well as troubleshooting software and hardware issues, including StarID. Student worker will also be responsible for the other computer labs (cleaning, stocking paper, etc.).

Qualifications: General knowledge of PCs and Macs, proficient with Microsoft Office products, and StarID. Prior experience working in a customer service role is preferred, but not required. Workers are needed for mornings starting at 7:30 or 8:00 a.m. until -? and for later evenings until 10:30 PM. Additional hours can be worked out according to class schedule, etc.
